Over Again is a tender duet about choosing love repeatedly — not through grand gestures,
but through quiet commitment, forgiveness, and showing up, again and again. Released ahead of Valentine’s Day, the song offers a softer, more honest take on modern love.
ABOUT THE SONG
I wrote Over Again from a very personal place. At its core, the song is about falling in love repeatedly — not the dramatic kind, but the quiet, constant choice to stay, to forgive, and to keep showing up. It’s about love that doesn’t peak,
but deepens. You fall again, and again, and again. In a romantic setting, Over Again becomes a love song for two people who continue to find their way back to each other. For couples whose hearts keep choosing to beat in sync, even
after uncertainty, even after the fall.
That realization first came to me as a father — looking into my daughter Izzy’s eyes and understanding that real love is not about perfection, but presence. That same truth felt universal, and it became the heart of this song. The line “an angel in disguise who lost its wings” is inspired by the idea of fallen angels —beings who willingly give up something divine to experience being human. That image felt parallel to love, where we trade perfection for vulnerability, and certainty for feeling.
ON RELEASING IT AS A DUET
Over Again marks my first single release under my own name, Zel Bautista, and it was always meant to be a duet.
I was intentional about not featuring a familiar celebrity name. I wanted something fresh,
something sincere, and something that felt right for the song rather than the spotlight. I
discovered Mix Fenix through Yamaha Music Philippines, where we are both brand
ambassadors, and I felt her voice carried the kind of warmth and honesty this song needed.
I reached out to her directly on Instagram, asked if she was open to collaborating, and she said yes. Working with Mix was effortless. She’s easy to be with, grounded, and fully present in the process. She didn’t just sing the part. She became part of the story the song was trying to tell.
RELEASE CONTEXT
Over Again will be released on January 30, intentionally timed ahead of Valentine’s Day. The
goal is to let the song live in quiet spaces where love is felt rather than performed — couple
playlists, late-night listens, wedding prep moments, and anniversary reflections.
