Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is set to make history as the first Filipino film and the first music documentary to screen at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in 2025.
In a groundbreaking moment for Philippine cinema and the global music documentary scene, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run will not only be screened at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 but will also be featured in a panel discussion at Exhibit Hall 6BCF—an esteemed venue typically reserved for some of the most influential names in entertainment and pop culture.
The panel will be led by director and producer Diane Ventura and will feature Ely Buendia, the iconic frontman of the Eraserheads and a central figure in the film. Their presence underscores the film’s significance as a cultural milestone—bridging continents through art, memory, and music.
The inclusion of this Filipino docufilm at such a prestigious venue marks a historic cultural crossover and a moment of deep artistic recognition—one that promises to spark pride and celebration across the Philippines.
"I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity to represent our people and our country on a global platform," said Ventura. "It's long been my dream to spotlight the ingenuity of Filipino art, talent, and creativity—and to contribute to reframing the Filipino narrative. Through this film, I hope to share a more nuanced and expansive portrayal of who we are, one that embraces our richness, humor, and depth."
Following its theatrical release in Philippine cinemas this summer under Warner Bros., the Dvent Pictures-produced Eraserheads: Combo On The Run earned widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. Billboard described it as “a moving documentary for the younglings discovering their music and longtime fans reconnecting with the songs that defined their generation,” while GMA News hailed it as “a history lesson on an important chapter of Pinoy pop culture.”
Due to overwhelming demand, the film saw multiple extended theatrical runs, screening in nearly 200 cinemas nationwide.
To commemorate its debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Kid Heroes Publications has partnered with the Eraserheadsand DVent Pictures to release a limited-edition one-shot comic book inspired by the documentary Combo On The Run.
Taking cues from the band’s semi-fictional narrative in the film, the comic reimagines the Eraserheads' story as an anthology of four unique tales—blending music, myth, and mayhem into a superhero adventure like no other.
Written by Patricio Ginelsa and Justin Quizon, and brought to life by acclaimed illustrators Raymund Lee, Felix Morales, and Ardie Aquino, the comic follows the band as musicians-turned-heroes, navigating a surreal world where chart-topping hits and zombie-fighting go hand in hand.
The one-shot issue will feature two exclusive cover editions illustrated by celebrated Filipino American artists. Whilce Portacio, renowned for his legendary work on The Punisher, Uncanny X-Men, and Iron Man, designed the official San Diego Comic-Con 2025 edition. Meanwhile, Stephen Segovia, known for his dynamic work with DC Comics, lends his style to the SuperManila Exclusive cover.
This crossover project brings the spirit of Combo On The Run into a bold, new visual medium—bridging Filipino music history with pop culture storytelling on an international stage.
Fans can pre-order the comic book now via the official Kid Heroes website.
Eraserheads Combo on the Run will be screened in theaters worldwide in 2025.
