The Next Odd Creature Top 5 finalist Kheed Mendoza speaks about establishing her unique musical style, how the creative and odd talents of O/C Records fire up her passion for music, and more.

The 20-year old singer-songwriter recalls how she unwittingly kicks off her artistic journey back in 2014 when she joined a musical ensemble as a guitarist that later fostered her to pursue a career in singing. In her cruise as an exploring musician, Kheed Mendoza pitched into an array of musical swaths — from being a solo artist joining amateur singing competitions, performing live at different gig sessions, getting into a band, to being one of the Top 5 finalists of OC Records’ The Next Odd Creature talent search.
The Next Odd Creature],” Kheed shares as she talks about how being an avid fan of the creative and odd talents of O/C Records electrifies her penchant for music.
She adds, witnessing the astounding performances of O/C Records’ artists in her first live gig experience a few years back left her in awe — so much that it ignited her enthusiasm to carve a path in the music scene.

In terms of musical style, Kheed Mendoza reveals that while she recognizes that this is only the beginning of her music career and is still exploring all possible approaches to her music, she remains intrepid that she can deliver great artistic materials to the audience.
Makukuha yung attention nila,” Kheed says, adding that there are times when she gets compared to other artists when people hear her songs, to which she uses as a motivation to establish her unique musical style in no time.
Kheed Mendoza is an ‘odd’ and natural-born artist. Even a bland thing or action can electrify her into curating a sterling work. As long as something catches her attention, inspiration sparks, and from there, she creates something from nothing.
Mabilis ako gumawa,” she shares.
When asked about why she should be The Next Odd Creature, Kheed reckons that while the talent search may appear as a competition to many, she sees the adventure from a different angle.
On talking about his edge over the other top finalists, Kheed was quick to say that she is “unique pero simple lang”
O/C Records' The Next Odd Creature talent search was launched in April 2021. The winner gets Php50,000 and a management and recording deal with O/C Records.
