The New Hue Turns 5 Transformative Years, with Spotify

Manila, Philippines — In a night bursting with emotion and electric energy, The New Hue celebrated its fifth anniversary, marking an incredible journey from a simple podcast to a vibrant community. This milestone was highlighted by a groundbreaking partnership with Spotify, solidifying a shared vision of elevating Original Pinoy Music (OPM) and nurturing local talent.


The venue was alive with familiar faces—friends, artists, and supporters who have been with The New Hue since its inception, and new additions. The atmosphere was palpable, filled with laughter and heartfelt reminiscing. As the crowd gathered, the atmosphere pulsed with nostalgia and excitement.

Mix Fenix took the stage, and took us back to where it all began. “It’s 8:00 o’clock in the evening and exactly at this moment five years ago, a Facebook page was created under the name The New Hue,” she shared. This humble beginning marked the inception of a movement in the digital world, born from a desire to spread positivity during the pandemic.


“For us, it was to keep our sanity. It was the fruitful conversations that kept us moving,” she reflected, highlighting the purpose that has guided The New Hue.


The night continued with heartfelt speeches from key figures, including Karen Gil-Velasco, who spoke about the significance of Astbury, a space that has become a home for creativity and connection. “This space helped us make core memories with people like you,” she noted, emphasizing the community that has blossomed over the years.


As the evening progressed, the focus shifted to the evolution of The New Hue. “From 50 people in year one to 350 creatives gathering for the VMA last year, this growth is a testament to our shared passion,” Mix Fenix enthused. “And this year, we are so honored to announce that Spotify is our music partner for this year’s The New Hue Video Music Awards 2025.” The announcement was met with cheers, as Thea Madrideo from Spotify took the stage to express their excitement about supporting local artists.



“Community. That is how we are moving right now,” Mix Fenix continued. “The New Hue has grown from a simple initiative to a community-driven platform where voices are heard from all corners of the music industry.” The room echoed with applause, a collective acknowledgment of the journey shared by artists, creatives, and fans alike.


The celebration was graced by a plethora of talented artists, including Adie, MRLD, Dilaw, Ryannah J, Amiel Sol, Janine Teñoso, PLAYERTWO, Gabba, Clara Benin, Hey June!, Ena Mori, One Click Straight, and more. Each attendee was a reminder of the vibrant diversity within the Filipino music scene, reinforcing the message of unity and creativity.





H, the founder of The New Hue, took the stage to share his heartfelt gratitude. “Five years of still doing this is a milestone we all celebrate today. Thank you for being part of this,” he said, inspiring everyone to continue championing local music.


Special thanks were extended to partners Magic 89.9, Midnight Rebels, Insignia Presents, and UIC, whose unwavering support has been pivotal in nurturing this vibrant ecosystem of talent.


As the program ended, Mix Fenix invited everyone to the listening party, concluding with the powerful words, “Only in Black and White.” This celebration was not just about the past; it was a hopeful glimpse into the future, a journey that promises to bring globally Filipino music and culture for years to come.


The New Hue and Spotify are embarking on a journey to uplift Filipino music, ensuring that these voices continue to resonate far and wide; one artist recognition at a time.
