After 10 years since their last collaboration on the song Bugtong, Gloc-9 and Yeng Constantino are back with another masterpiece, a new single called Paliwanag.
At the press conference last Wednesday hosted by VJ Ai dela Cruz, Gloc-9 shared that he wrote Paliwanag more than a year ago and that he is very happy with the outcome of the song.
“Naka base talaga ako sa idinidikta ng song...swak na swak yung vocals ni Yeng dito sa song na ‘to. I’m very, very happy sa outcome...syempre with the musical arrangement ni Thyro Alfaro, nasira talaga ulo ko. Pag tama yung intention mo when writing a song, everything falls into place”
When asked about the intention of the lyrics, Gloc-9 shared that he does not intend to be preachy with the song. Instead, he tried to dig deep and write about what he truly feels that he thinks Filipinos can relate to.
“Nung sinulat ko ang Paliwanag, di ako nagsasalita bilang Gloc-9, rapper, o celebrity. Triny ko lang din hukayin kung ano yung malamang na nararamdaman ng karamihan sa mga kababayan natin”
“...I try not to be preachy sa mga kanta and kung meron man talaga akong gustong ihatid, kung ano talaga yung nararamdaman ko na malamang na nararamdaman din ng karamihan sa mga kababayan natin”
Yeng also agrees with Gloc-9 in regards to his intention with the song. She is aware that everyone has their own beliefs and interpretations, but hopes that the listener's interpretation of the song will lead to something beautiful.
“I agree with kuya Gloc na we’re not here to preach to anyone kasi iba-iba tayo ng pinaniniwalaan, iba-iba tayo ng interpretasyon. Pero kung anuman yung maging interpretasyon ng mga tao sa kantang ito, may it lead to something beautiful and something na maghahango sa kanila kung saang dilim sila nandun”
