Fragments will be releasing their latest single called “Ratrace” on September 29, 2023 via Tower of Doom. The Visual centric band will also be releasing a music video at the time of the release as a supporting content.
This is also the band’s first single that will be released under Tower of Doom.
Ratrace - is an endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit. It could also refer to a competitive struggle to get ahead financially or routinely. The song “Ratrace” offers a heavier and darker side of the band. It tackles more on personal experiences, such as the daily grind of 9-5 jobs, the frustration of enduring relentless traffic during commutes, and the feeling of being trapped in a monotonous routine. This routine is born out of necessity, as individuals are compelled to make compromises to merely survive. This new single swerves to the usual anti-religion/political themes of the band. As per Ratrace’s meaning, vocalist and songwriter Niko Cezar shares, “I wrote and called this track Ratrace because I became tired of chasing whatever. First being in a band where there’s so much little support. It’s like asking for crumbs because we’re ‘underground’ or ‘you guys aren’t marketable enough’ bullshit.” “Also the passion we have on this isn’t enough to fuel us. We need to stick to our regular day jobs in order to support doing what we love. Basically, we need to do what we hate before we do what we love, which is kind of contradictory and it sucks to think of it. That’s why we called this “Ratrace” cause it’s never ending and it’s definitely getting the best of us all,” he adds. But…we don’t plan on stopping despite the situation. We love what we do and as long as the passion is there we plan to release more singles soon and collaborations we can’t disclose yet. We’re also thankful for Tower of Doom for giving us the opportunity and taking the risk in trusting us through our music. This is the first time that we’ve worked with Tower of Doom as our producer and this is also the first song Matt (drummer) & Ryan (guitarist) wrote with us after joining the band. Expect shows and visually-centered content from the band these coming days!
