Singer-songwriter Adie Garcia released another hit track, “Tahanan,” last December 8th, under O/C Records. Since its release, Tahanan has amassed over 1.7M streams on Spotify alone, with almost 2M streams on its lyric video on YouTube. The official lyric visualizer was also released and can be streamed on O/C Records’ YouTube channel.
The release of the said single follows the successful launch of Adie’s popular singles, such as Luha, Paraluman, Dungaw, and Sawa Na, which generated millions of streams worldwide — making Adie one of today’s sought-after artists in the OPM scene.
In an exclusive interview with Adie, he shares what Tahanan is all about, the inspiration behind the single, what something new the fans can expect from it, its production journey, and more.
TNH: You’re wrapping up the year with four major music nominations, your songs (Luha, Paraluman, Dungaw, and Sawa Na) are certified hits, and on top of that, your monthly Spotify listeners have reached a million. How do you feel about these achievements, and how do you see such recognitions influence both your work and yourself as a musician?
Adie: Honestly, till now, I still cannot believe that everything that’s happening is really happening. Felt surreal every time I look back where or what I was when I was starting to pursue my passion. I’m beyond happy that I'm able to make everybody happy with my songs and just show everyone where I'm capable with.
TNH: You first released a teaser of your upcoming single, Tahanan, last October, and since then, your listeners have been waiting for its official release. What can they expect from this single, and can you share with us what Tahanan is all about?
Adie: I didn’t expect the appreciation that the song received the moment I released the snippet version of it. Feels good to know that people badly want me to release it immediately, so I listened and finished the whole thing. Tahanan is a song about lovers who finally found their comfort places for each other.
TNH: What was the inspiration behind this single?
Adie: It’s about my family that will always be my home in all ways no matter what. The feeling of being attached to someone specifically inspires me to finish the whole thing that quick and also other stories from couples that I had encountered with.
TNH: Can you share with us your journey in producing Tahanan? What notable experiences did you have while crafting it?
Adie: I wrote the chorus a couple months ago when I got inspired by the movie “My Amanda” By Piolo Pascual and Alexandra De Rossi. Then I continued to finish the song the day when I felt real affection that I didn’t expect to happen; then after that, it’s like one snap I finished the whole track that quickly with just imagining things with a person and wrote it.
TNH: Are there other musicians that helped shape the overall structure of this single?
Adie: It’s just the usual peeps that I have which are Franz Sacro & Ms. Hazel Pascua. It’s my whole idea, the lyrics, the structure, the instruments that I want the song to have. Franz Sacro and Ms. Hazel Pascua helped me bring my ideas come to life with their skills to execute what is on my mind. Franz is the one who put all the instruments in the song while Ms. Hazel Pascua mixed and mastered the whole thing.
TNH: Are you also going to release a music video for Tahanan just like your four previously released tracks? If so, what can your fans expect from the MV?
Adie: Yes. For now, I really don't know what to say, but for sure it’ll be lovely.
TNH: Aside from the lyrical standpoint of Tahanan, what underlying message do you want to convey to your listeners thru this single?
Adie: When you heard the song, and you felt something. That’s it.
On top of yet another remarkable release from Adie, he concludes a momentous year with major music nominations, including Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Male Artist in the 34th Awit Awards; Wish Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Wishclusive Contemporary Folk Performance of the Year for his single Paraluman in the 7th Wish Music Awards.
