“Hideous” a new short film from Oliver Sim — best known for his work as songwriter, bassist and vocalist of The xx — and acclaimed French director Yann Gonzalez (Knife + Heart), has been selected for a special screening during the Semaine de la Critique at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film will make its global premiere with the screening. Watch the trailer here and see the film poster above.

“‘Hideous’ — a horror film from the big heart and perverted imagination of Mr. Yann Gonzalez,” says Sim.

“Starring yours truly, Fehinti Balogun, Jimmy Somerville, Jamiexx, Bimini and more. I’m trying to find a creative way to say what a dream come true making this film was but it was exactly that, a dream come true. Horror has been a passion of mine since I was a kid and now my nightmares have come to life in this film. Featuring a selection of new songs I’ve been making, I’m dying for you to see it. A massive thank you to Semaine de la Critique for selecting the film to premiere this May at Cannes Film Festival. What a BLOODY thrill!”
